What is a Reflector?

A Reflector is a single view to a Prism application. For example, if your house has an Indigo Home Automation system, you would need a single Reflector to view the control pages through Prism.

How do I activate my Reflector?

After you’ve created a Reflector, use a Prism-enabled application to activate this reflector.

Is Prism secure?

Prism uses secure tunneling through all connections. When you connect to your Reflector, you are connecting to our server through a secure, HTTPS, connection, and then via a secure, encrypted tunnel to your home computer.

All authentication is stored on your local computer.

Activating a Reflector

Enabling Prism is very easy. First, make sure you are running Indigo version 2.0.2 (both client and server; check the About Box).

Next, choose the Indigo->Start Local Server… menu item.

Turn on the Require authentication checkbox and enter a User name and good password. You will definitely want password protection on since you are about to enable access to the Indigo web server from the Internet.

Turn on the Enable anywhere secure access checkbox.

Press the Activate Reflector button.

A browser page will open to the goprism.com website. Press the create an account link and fill in a login name, email address, and password.

On the next web page, enter in your reflector name and press the Purchase Reflector button. This name will become the first part of your personallized access URL, so choose wisely! And don’t worry it is totally free during the beta period—we don’t even ask for a credit card number.

The next page should show that your Reflector was activated— congratulations!

Lastly, switch back to the Indigo Start Local Server… dialog. It should now show that the reflector status is activated as well. Press the Start Server button and that is it!

You now can access Indigo web pages from anywhere using your personalized URL. No firewall settings, router port forwarding, etc. was needed. And even if your IP address changes, Indigo will automatically make sure that a new connection is reestablished (within just a couple of minutes).
